About Rebel Cause Films
Based in Southwest British Columbia, Jim Vanderhorst is a troubadour filmmaker who travels around the local music scene documenting and creating film content, primarily for the music industry.
Jim has worked independently and with many groups as a digital SLR video shooter and editor since 2009 after completing a useless 4 year degree at UVic. He later spent a year at Capilano U studying Cinematography, where he learned professional lighting from maverick cinematographers.
Jim has experience with narrative forms and and commercial work, but has been driven to music, specializing in documenting live music performances and festivals as well as crafting music videos using professional and improvised lighting techniques. He has worked with many festivals including Shambhala, Astral Harvest, the Big Time Out, Envision and Rifflandia among others. He has filmed Griz, Opiuo, Dub FX, Emancipator, Excision, Datsik, Death Cab for Cutie, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Sweatshop Union, Kytami, Illvis Freshly, Stickybuds and the Funk Hunters among hundreds of others.
